Mumbai Port Trust has recently permitted bunker supplies at Mumbai OPL (Outer-Port Limits). The OPL operations will be taken care with the help of 5 barges and the barge capacities range from 650 -1200 MT. The government run refineries will give delivered supplies. This will ensure both Quality & Quantity of bunker product.

Mumbai Port Trust has also commenced their new barge loading terminal where barges will be loaded by pipeline. This will reduce the barge loading time which in turn will support in handling more number of bunker deliveries in a shorter time span. The commencement of barge loading terminal will overcome the disadvantage of Mumbai Port as a tidal port.

Vessels while waiting for berth at Mumbai, Nhava Sheva, JNPT can fulfil their bunker requirements without spending any extra time. Now, vessels passing Mumbai Port can procure bunkers at OPL without registering her with the port authorities. This will save on huge Calling Cost.

With the opening of Mumbai OPL, India has now 2 locations where OPL supplies are possible:

1. Kochi (Cochin) OPL, South Coast
2. Mumbai OPL, West Coast

Following products are available at both the OPLs:

1. IFO 380 cst (ISO 8217:2005 RMG 380)
2. IFO 180 cst (BIS specs equivalent to ISO 8217:2005)
3. MGO (BIS specs equivalent to ISO 8217:2005 DMA)

Pricing at both the OPLs is MOPS based which gives a competitive edge.
